Hey there from Berlin again,

I am very happy to announce that an other cooperation between a Shapeshifters Member and BCN has be realised!

Egon Zipple http://www.shapeshifters.net/egonzippel/introduction with his beautiful
Loft in New York is the 4th location we are featuring.

This means I've found two of our four locations on Shapeshifters, and the fifth location is already in the making - also a collaboration between me and a Shapeshifters Member, on the next continent ... more about that in my next posting ;)

Our search for more interesting people and locations -worldwide - continues.
All the details are in my last posting here: http://www.shapeshifters.net/manu/stories/1358/
Hey there from Berlin again,

my request on Shapeshifters, looking for people and places to join BCN was quite useful and successful (Setting up a BCN-port in your city. – requested on 10 aug 2007, 13:43). Only two months later we could announce the opening of the second plug & play office – this time in the Mojave-desert! (Mojave meets Berlin – news provided on 12 oct 2007, 11:31)

Now we are looking for the next location – better for the next person who is interested to join the BCN-network and setting up the next global plug&play office in her/his city. Again Cities as well as Drop-out zones are very interesting for us!

This time our focus is on the southern hemisphere. Australia and New Zealand, Africa and of cause South and Latin America. But if you are from somewhere else and interested, please don’t hesitate – our current aim is to set up at least one plug&play office for global nomads on each continent within the next year – let’s see if we’ll make it that fast ;)

Everything in detail on my first posting or on our website http://www.TheBusinessClass.Net under IDEA and FAIRCHISE.

I am thankful for every feedback, ideas, connections & contacts, links ...
Cheers Manu

One more thing: Many of our Members asking when we’ll open the next office in London. We don’t have any direct (better say helpful) contact to people in London who might be interested joining our office-network.

Hey there from Berlin,

a few months ago – first of may / Labor Day – I opened the BCN-network. I didn’t had the chance to post it on Shapeshifters myself because PeterPanic was faster than me :)

http://www.shapeshifters.net/PeterPanic/stories/972/

Now we are looking for people to join our network by setting up new BCN-ports in their cities. I was wondering if you could help me to find such a person / location in your town. You will find everything in detail on the web page under IDEA and FAIRCHISE.

By creating the idea of FAIRCHISE vs. FRANCHISE we do not focus on connecting only the major capital cities of the „modern world“, but also on cities and regions that are not so wealthy -yet! The BCN-network only makes sense as an area-wide network including all different types of cities and regions.

Since last week THE BUSINESS CLASS. NET is pleased to welcome all members including spanish and italian languages! Furthermore we translate all news on the web page free of charges. From now on Your News will be posted in Italian, Spanish, English and German! (Spanish version of the FAIRCHISE text is still missing, it will be online in about two weeks)

http://www.thebusinessclass.net

I am happy for every feedback, ideas, connections...
and please share this idea with everyone you know.

It’s your business, anywhere.
Starting from august the Autumn/Winter collection of the young shoe designer duo—Simone Springer and Yuji Mizobuchi—will be available in selected international stores and boutiques. The designers continue to give their quirky spins on Austrian traditional crafts by working closely with skilled regional craftsmen to express modernity in fashion. The different cultural origins of Simone and Yuji are a recurring theme in their collections. http://www.rosamosa.com
Linkup is a fantastic network for designers based in Copenhagen that hosted a Shapeshifters presentation last Thursday. Eric, the founder of Shapeshifters, presented the story and the idea behind Shapeshifters. We are very much looking forward to getting more connected with the Oeresund region in the future.
If you want to watch some photos of the presentation check out:
We are very much looking forward to getting more connected with the Oeresund region in the future.
If you want to watch some photos of the presentation check out:
FRIDAY SESSIONS ARE ABOUT EXCHANGING IDEAS

bring a chair
bring a friend
bring a drink

For those who still have to attend Friday Sessions, here’s a brief history and why they have come about:

History
Friday Sessions have originated in the beginning of 2005 and are conceptualised and organised by 26’10 south Architects ( Anne Graupner & Thorsten Deckler).
The Sessions are informal in nature, entirely unfunded and are held approximately every fortnight at 26’10’s offices in an old shop (heritage listed building) in Vrededorp, Johannesburg. The format varies from film screenings, exhibitions, talks, discussions and site visits. The subject matter is thus diverse and themes are work shopped by 26’10 and interested parties. 26’10 acts as “curator”, endorsing and on occasion developing content.

Purpose
The relative lack of a meaningful culture of debate on architecture, urbanism, art and design serves as a motivation to hold these events. The Sessions enable the exchanging of ideas amongst peers, colleagues, lay-people and other professionals dealing with the urban and built environment and extending a network of likeminded people in the city and across the globe.

Nature of Friday Sessions
Due to their informal nature as well as the subject matter, Friday Sessions are autonomous and spontaneous, a critical aspect we intend to retain as far as possible. Informal discussion after / during presentations are as important as the presentations.

Audience
To date Friday Sessions have gained a dedicated following with new audience members joining through informal networks of word-of-mouth and e-mail. Audiences range from 40 – 80 people per session. About 60% of audience members are architects and architectural students, whilst others are artists, film-makers, activists, lawyers, actors, teachers, IT managers, etc. The Sessions also serve as an informal educational medium for students as well as professionals.

Network
A loose local and increasingly international network of like-minded professionals has grown around Friday Sessions. To this effect Friday Sessions have been launched in the London in April 2006 by publicWORKS (Andreas Lang & Kathrin Boehm

This network has enabled like-minded people to share information and expertise as well as create confidence in the pursuit of meaningful practice of architecture, art and design.
