There is a brand new book that I would like to recommend everyone who is interested in the subject of wearable technology. Sabine Seymour, based in New York and Vienna, is one of the leading figures and a highly renowned researcher in this field. Her book (which is almost an encyclopedia) gives a great overview of what is going in this fascinating sector at the moment. It´s called "Fashionable Technology: The Intersection of Design, Fashion, Science and Technology". Lot´s of references, great artwork, absolutely inpsiring. Here is a link to Sabine´s website: http://www.moondial.com

Can anyone point me in the direction of someone such as a textiles/materials developer who might be able to help me with my research into specific textiles that deal well with impact and abrasion (such as kevlar)?

Thanks

Starting from august the Autumn/Winter collection of the young shoe designer duo—Simone Springer and Yuji Mizobuchi—will be available in selected international stores and boutiques. The designers continue to give their quirky spins on Austrian traditional crafts by working closely with skilled regional craftsmen to express modernity in fashion. The different cultural origins of Simone and Yuji are a recurring theme in their collections. http://www.rosamosa.com
Hi all,

I am part of a band that is about to sign a record deal in South Africa. The name of the band is "Cedar Light" and we are a couple of months away from an album release and coverage through radio play.

We are looking for a designer to take us on as a pet project and an opportunity
for marketing for their brand. We desire a simple and unique look . The band has both sexes represented.

Our music is about powerful lyrics that engage the heart as well as catchy melodies. Our music is Rock/pop with a spiritual twist. This synergy can open many doors so let us connect!
I attended Blickfang Vienna some weeks back and through the host of great designers that were there, I came to the stand of Riella. Riella D Baruh is a textile designer based in Istanbul where she works with her concept of her lines on paper that she calls her Therapy. She works for a design firm herself and to finance her own passion.
With her design 'therapy' she has already designed and produced fabric, furniture, clothing (even a wedding dress). While painting her lines, she found that she became thirsty. Apon drinking, she decided her bottle of water was Therapy for her. She contacted the producers and had a soda water produced. She paints on chocolate boxes and calls it 'love therapy', on lights and calls it 'light therapy'.
She also has a compilation CD called therapy - of which I recieved purely as a gift - and listen to constantly.
Riella is inspiring. She offered a gift of a bag to all passers by at blickfang - good marketing, and also - she is a genuinely lovely person.
She is currently working on concepts with more well known firms. She hinted that she would love to work on international projects.
If you have an idea for a product and are looking for an inspiring person with which to work or wish to produce a certain line for, well anything, I suggest you contact Riella.
Start by checking out her website - http://www.riellabaruh.com
Hi Everyone. justAthot is a company created here in Johannesburg to create place for coming together for artists to meet, exchange ideas and speak as one voice without doubt or fear.

The priority right now is our book lounge. We have started a collection of books including African literature, international politics, motivational and poetry books.

We are looking for interaction. We have not really come across Science Fiction books and would be happy if anyone could send us books as we are an NGO.

Anyone interested in putting a hand in assisting us in this great adventure, please come forward and donate any sort of book that you may feel would be relevant for this cause.

We hope this project encourages South African youth to have confidence in their own culture, know who they are, dream and start to persue their dreams like everyone else in the world. We would appreciate donations from international sources as after all, they are looking at the issue of our struggle as outsiders.

If anyone has anything to send us:

quotes can be sent to: mdubana@ananzi.co.za

books can be sent to this address:
For more information on the book lounge, call our office line:
speak with Mdu.

Stephen Bantu Biko's vision was to free a black man from the enslavement of their own minds, show him how unique he is and encourage him to take on the world.

just to throw a cliche on you people:
"A READING NATION IS A WINNING NATION". I believe this statement is valid.
Dear friends the world over, we are planning to create Shapeshifters T-shirts that look beautiful, are manufactured under fair conditions, don´t harm the planet, but still have a reasonable price. That´s why I am looking for printable, shortsleeve T-shirts in the basic colours white, black, red, blue in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. We require regular cut T-shirts for men and tailor cut T-shirts for women. Please could anyone give me practical advise where I could find this T-shirts or does anyone know of such a sustainable T-shirt supplier?

I am a Buddhist monk writing on behalf of a lady that produces hats with feathers in the village of Bentota. She is searching for new feathers from other places in
the world. How can we help her to find and get these feathers?
