Twice a year a special artists event is held here in Tokyo. It is claimed to be the largest art festival in Asia with over 40,000 visitors and 6,000 exhibitors. I have had the pleasure of working directly with Design Festa's team. During the last event I met many artists from all over the world. Some of them have created a successful business with their art, and that success was all thanks to Design Festa and the opportunities it provided for them. Design Festa is a free and open event with no restrictions on participation provided all work is original. Artists rent a space from Design Festa and display/sell their work from that space. It's like giant Flea market of art. It is certainly an amazing place to build networks and business opportunities in Japan.

Foreign exhibitors usually have difficulty with getting a proper visa from the Japanese government. This creates accessibility issues for foreign exhibitors. Many of those who exhibit are living in Japan.

nothingGrinder participated in Design Festa Vol. 18 were invited to show our video work in Design Festa Vol. 25 ( the most recent ). I promote this event because I have heard some amazing success stories from some of the artists who exhibit. I hope this information is useful. looking for crossovers in the arts field

I'm looking for crossovers (between different art disciplines, or between an art discipline and another field of work) that have been created within cultural incubators. I would really like to talk to the initiators of these crossovers, and find out what stimulated the creation.
The reason is that I'm doing research on this subject for my Master thesis on Arts Management at the Utrecht School of the Arts.
Also If you are not an initiator yourself but you do know about an interesting/inspiring crossover project, please let me know.

VIENNA 2007 is vienna's first do-it-yourself festival featuring artists and designers from different creative backgrounds in and around vienna. our focus is to give them the opportunity to show and sell their self-produced goods to a broader audience and to exchange ideas among each other. we aim to include exhibitors from a wide variety of backgrounds including but not limiting to art, design, fashion, music, food and anything else you can imagine.

i am an abstract painter, looking for overseas exhibition opportunities in Europe and Sydney as well as wanting to explore collaborative work with designers and archetitects. Giving Exchange 2006

For those of you in Cape Town and Johannesburg, this year's Giving Exchange will be taking place at the following locations in September:

Johannesburg: Fri 8th to Sun 10th September
09h00 to 18h00 daily at the Fountain Court, Sandton City

Cape Town: Fri 15th to Sun 17th September
10h00 to 19h00 daily at the Market Square, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

Each exhibition stand was designed by a Freelancentral.co.za member, who donated their time and talent. Come along and see if you can spot Phehello's work! The message from the Giving Exchange is that EVERYONE has something to give - it's not just about money.

The Expo showcases 20 non-profit organisations - what they do and what they need. It's run by The Greater Good SA (http://www.greatergoodsa.com) which is a portal for NPOs - if you want to donate money, time or stuff you can browse 'approved' organisations on their website and know that what you're donating is going to a very good (and reputable) cause.

I'm new here and wanted to say hello - as well as see if any of you out there would be interested in donating your time and talent to South African non-profit organisations.

I run Freelancentral, an online directory of creative industry freelancers, and part of our work is to take briefs from NPOs and see if any of our freelance members are willing to help out.

May I proudly recommend: http://www.festgestalten.net, a Vienna and Berlin based team of set designers and event organizers. They recently designed the much noticed exhibition "Austria and its Jews" in the Jewish Museum in Vienna. Their service portfolio ranges from e.g. theater sets to christmas decoration for shopping arcades.

The Trinity Session

The Trinity Session is an arts consultancy and creative solutions team directed by Stephen Hobbs, Marcus Neustetter and Kathryn Smith. Specialised interest areas include urban development and research, technology and the body, and web and electronic art.
