search for unperfect architecture

we - querkraft architects - are working on a book about unperfect architecture. we are searching for pictures of UNPERFECT BUILDINGS OR ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS which are funny or just likeable like the liver spot of cindy crawford...
we will compare these pictures to a photoshop correction (see attached example of clock tower in graz). we want to proof that the unperfect original will be more interesting - more lively!

Wanted information alternative heating system

I need to tap into the collective wisdom of shapeshifters. I am refurbishing a building in the North of England and have hit a problem when it comes to heating systems. I have explored ground source heat pumps but do not have enough land to install one. Where should I go, electricty, gas, oil, renewables? Has anybody any experience in the area of cheap and sucessful heating systems?

Hey there from Berlin again,

my request on Shapeshifters, looking for people and places to join BCN was quite useful and successful (Setting up a BCN-port in your city. requested on 10 aug 2007, 13:43). Only two months later we could announce the opening of the second plug & play office this time in the Mojave-desert! (Mojave meets Berlin news provided on 12 oct 2007, 11:31)

Now we are looking for the next location better for the next person who is interested to join the BCN-network and setting up the next global plug&play office in her/his city. Again Cities as well as Drop-out zones are very interesting for us!

This time our focus is on the southern hemisphere. Australia and New Zealand, Africa and of cause South and Latin America. But if you are from somewhere else and interested, please dont hesitate our current aim is to set up at least one plug&play office for global nomads on each continent within the next year lets see if well make it that fast ;)

Setting up a BCN-port in your city.

a few months ago first of may / Labor Day I opened the BCN-network. I didnt had the chance to post it on Shapeshifters myself because PeterPanic was faster than me :)

Now we are looking for people to join our network by setting up new BCN-ports in their cities. I was wondering if you could help me to find such a person / location in your town. You will find everything in detail on the web page under IDEA and FAIRCHISE.

By creating the idea of FAIRCHISE vs. FRANCHISE we do not focus on connecting only the major capital cities of the modern world, but also on cities and regions that are not so wealthy -yet! The BCN-network only makes sense as an area-wide network including all different types of cities and regions.

I'm trying to find people/design/companies/orgs/trade shows/events etc who are involved in Africa's contemporary culture and design industries.

I've come accross a couple of new mags (www.bhfmagazine.com) and someone here recommended Design Indaba which was a great find, thanks for that!

Any other recommendations on what's going on in Africa that I should know about?

Pecha kucha -- an inspiring experience!

Looking for a little architectural/design/photographic/artistic inspiration or interaction?

I recommend a visit to a pecha kucha night -- I had my first taste when one was held in Auckland recently and found a packed room of various creative worlds happily colliding, sharing and mixing.

The pre-arranged participants in pecha kucha were given the chance to tell the crowd about their design, new building, piece of furniture, photographs or thoughts they wished to share.

They did this with twenty images, and each image was shown for 20 seconds. People talked along with their slides, one guy played some music.

Presenters (and much of the audience) were from the design, architecture, photography, art and creative fields.

It was a fantastic way to see what was happening Auckland, and meet other creative people.

These events, orginally started in Tokyo by a British architect, are run around the world, and participation is encouraged by anyone who has something to show or say.

I'm sure there would be plenty of shapeshifters who would enjoy an outing to one of these!

Link UP - a network for young architects and designers in Denmark - are planning three events in 2007 inviting young architects and designers from around the world to come to Copenhagen and share your experience as an architect or designer with us.
http://www.linkup.nu The events will take place in May, September and December. We will support your journey and stay in Copenhagen, but cannot pay you anything else, as we are a non-commerciel network. Our first event in 2007 was thursday March 15th when Erich from Shapeshifters were in Copenhagen and introduce the network. i just want to let you know of a big hope in the worldwide market of real estate: the socalled sponge space society, (Jacques Vink, René Heijne, NL 1999) offers search and arrangements of most intersting space and room concepts for special occasions and needs. i found their concept in the book "sustainable thinking", published by Denkstatt Umweltberatung und -management GmbH, edited by Martina Fineder and Andreas Pawlik, (Vienna, 2003), when i was looking for nothing peticular some years ago.
