Hi Everyone. justAthot is a company created here in Johannesburg to create place for coming together for artists to meet, exchange ideas and speak as one voice without doubt or fear.

The priority right now is our book lounge. We have started a collection of books including African literature, international politics, motivational and poetry books.

We are looking for interaction. We have not really come across Science Fiction books and would be happy if anyone could send us books as we are an NGO.

Anyone interested in putting a hand in assisting us in this great adventure, please come forward and donate any sort of book that you may feel would be relevant for this cause.

We hope this project encourages South African youth to have confidence in their own culture, know who they are, dream and start to persue their dreams like everyone else in the world. We would appreciate donations from international sources as after all, they are looking at the issue of our struggle as outsiders.

Hi shapeshifters!

I'm new here and wanted to say hello - as well as see if any of you out there would be interested in donating your time and talent to South African non-profit organisations.

I run Freelancentral, an online directory of creative industry freelancers, and part of our work is to take briefs from NPOs and see if any of our freelance members are willing to help out.

how shapeshifters helped big time

shapeshifters is new but it already seems to work:

through this posting i found architectafrica.com where again i stumbled across this earthbuilding workshop, which i then attended when i was in south africa for a conference.

the workshop was great - and a good opportunity to meet south african architects, contacts we need to spread the idea of open source architecture.

the cool thing: someone at that workshop even knew shapeshifters already :-)

Illustrator & Designer - Cape Town

Theory One is an illustrator and designer in Cape Town. He has a good network of designers and street artists involved in various collaborations.

Theory One's illustrations mostly portray characters influenced by his urban surroundings and cultural stereotypes. The range of subject material that he approaches can also be diverse, but the consistency in style of linework and colour make him a distinctive illustrator.

Moritho's Food

Yeah, So was in Braamfontein, johannesburg, south africa, looking for something to eat, nothing fashionable, just ordinar pap+vleis (porrige and meat). I found a place called Moritho's Food, with a tag line saying, 'Feeding the Nation'.

A plate of food is 20 rands (US$ 3), for a drum stick, vors, t-bone steak and pap with gravy.

Thought I should share. Its located opposite the Devonshire Hotel.

Word.

Hiya...

I'm just introducing myself to the group. I'm an 'artist-at-large' living in Johannesburg, and I make my living out of writing and creating corporate and industrial theatre. I run creativity seminars. I'm a mentor and coach. I love Augusto Boal's Forum Theatre.

I was at the inner city Joburg Shapeshifters meeting, and liked that idea very much indeed.

I'll be interacting more as the days go by.
