Hi guys,

Thank you for your first responce...but as I could see, a lots of you guys asked for a little futher information :-)

This material I'm looking for is a long straight, yet very flexible, braided/plaited nylon/plastic tube. It is not solid, nor is the surface is solid... it's very thin and see-through ... does this make any sense?!?
It's almose like a veil turned into a tube. The texture is very much like a veil, but make of some sort of nylon or plastic. Mabye it is some kind of cloth/fabric, I don't know - I didn't have the time to grope the sculpture very thoroughly at the exhibition ;-)
The tube is about 1,5 cm wide and an x-number of meters long. Maybe it comes on a reel/coil?
Maybe it comes in different colours ... I've only seen it in the colour white ...

In the photo a piece of steel wire is used to bend the tube into shape, but the wire is not part of the material.

I'm sorry ... this almost sounds like a poor riddle, I know :-)

I could imagen that it is used in plumming of some sort, but I don't know. This fare I've talked to a lot of plummers and shown them my photo, but they could not help me but adviced me to talk to people who how about aquariums/fish tanks – this fare in my searching, I've seen many fascinating and exotic fish ;-) but haven't found the sort of tube I'm looking for, nor the name of it ...
I've talked to electrical engineers, carpenters and so on - even some people at the local Zoo ...

The thing is: I saw this very fascinating sculpture/installation in London (summer 2006) and some of the matrials - one of them beeing this mysterious tube - I found very inspiring and really made my ideas run free. I could simply see this matrial used to create so many other designs and in other ways that it was used in this very beautiful sculpture.
But this fare, all I've got is a ton of sketches, all ready to be turned into reality.

So if any of you have an idea to what this is and even better what it's called and used for normally it would be fantastic and I would be very very happy.
If you have a surgestion to what it's normal use is, I'd love to hear from you as well - maybe you can give me a new direction to search in.

Thank you and greetings,

Iben Frei
