Playgrounds
I am currently working on design childrens playground equipment, I just wanted to put feelers out if anyone has seen any innovative designs or other forms of inspiration.
Thanks

Hi Duann,
you could check out http://www.ziegler-spielplaetze.de or http://www.icolandia.com .
The designs are a little conventional to my eyes, but maybe you find something useful.

I love the playpumps, would be great to have a kid driven water feature that other kids could play under, to encourage teamwork, etc.
also liked the http://www.icolandia.com . site. is kinda conventional, many are, but they do have nice flash content on their site.
cheers

There's a project I think is amazing - It's from a small UK company called SnugandOutdoor. They have made experimental playgrounds for primary school age kids - making toys to encourage creative play rather than role play or competitive play.
I love this project! You can see a little here http://www.snugandoutdoor.co.uk/index.html, but get in contact with them to see more up to date stuff - it has developed far beyond what's on the website now.
Good luck! Nice project area!

Thanks Jane,
I have checked out their work, I like the temporary nature and the simplicity of their work, I will get in touch

Nürnberg announced for 2007 that it wants to have playgrounds with equipment also for elderly people (why not a swing also). A totally new concept and probably worth thinking over again. The article was seend on German News Mag "Der Spiegel".

Should you have difficulties with the German language, here the page of the 2nd mayor who is in charge of the project in Nürnberg.

maybe not exactly what you were looking for but i found this very interesting:
http://www.playpumps.org. a merry-go-round serving as an energy source, specifically as a water pump in developing countries.
