I think that is a great idea. Do you have a way of opening an 'official' bank account in the name of the organisation? good luck!

Oran,
there is a website named the European Sponsoring Exchange (Europäische Sponsoring Börse) and it is dedicated to match up events organizers and potential funders. The address is: www.esb-online.com.
As far as I know it is free of costs to create a posting on the site but you might need someone to help you create your posting in German. Be clear about what you have got to offer to sponsors.
Let us know whether it worked or not.

You guys are awesome! What a response, thanks you!
Great Ideas, great links..Anybody wish to help with creatinga post on Eric's suggested
website in German? Also, Smi, I would LOVE to Discuss this here among the peopel!
I think your idea smi is perfect. The question is what mechanism would I use? I could create a PayPal account but what would make people want to contribute $10 each? Some ideas are welcome! The organization's website is http://www.worldspirityouthcouncil.org

Hi Oran,
in case you still can need some information here:
I found a very super posting on Shapeshifters concerning new ways of getting money, I just do not know if it works for South Africans, it is obviously quite new in UK and US.
Look at Peter's comment: http://www.shapeshifters.net/buscape/stories/685/#comments

Hi,
another fundraising idea is a "duck race" as used for financing social projects.
The distinctively different Racing-Duck, is offered to the public by way of donation. Figure ten, twenty, or even thirty thousand of these little Rubber Ducks being sponsored by the public in the hope of winning a big prize but for sure to donate money to a good cause.

here's an inspiring+creative fundraising story: after the devastating tsunami hit india in 2004, a young designer worked with a group of women from the affected communities to make really easy-to-make, cute, tiny rag dolls she called 'tsunamika'. she then handed these out free of charge and urged people to gift these to one another - with the expectation that this would generate an emotive link with the disaster amongst its receipients, and also motivate them to donate money for the cause. this succeeded beyond expectations and it's become an award-winning yet very simple and poetic fund-raising idea of recent times. see the full story at http://www.auroville.org/tsunami/projects/tsunamika_award.ht....

Hi Oran!
I think you would need something "viral" that can really travel across the globe, where like 2000 people give 10 $ and support something good. I guess the combination of children, nepal and "earth foundation" would do a great job. I know saying that you would need something nice and simple without having something at hand is not particularly helpful, but probably someone else is there with an idea. Or we could just come up with something by discussing it here?
